I noticed that IRL folks with differing opinions tend to be less radical and more understanding of both sides. These internet “communities” are so polarized, that I wonder if the people are even real, or if their intention is just to stir engagement? Good read!
You’re so right! People are big and brave behind their keyboards and I think are desperate for a community that they’re too quick to trample over others in order to find it. As the saying goes, ca$h me outside! 😌
Wow, Lacie. The fruit basket spilling on the pavement is epic. The constant shaming of others to feel validated in their own choices is disheartening, to say the least. You keep doing what you’re doing bc you are an amazing mom with two incredible children.
Thank you so much, Mar!! I’m so glad that analogy translated. ☺️ it really is - not sure when or how that became a thing, but it needs to stop. 🛑 & thank you so much - they’re the best 🥰
Subbing! I loved this…and I’m not even a parent. But as a human, I hate to see “supermoms” picking on everyone and everything. I’m with you that I think these are the mean girls from high school who never grew up. Raising children is the biggest responsibility you’ll face and no one always gets it right all the time. I think camaraderie would be better. Also, behind a mom who thinks she is “great” is sometimes an upset child because the mom is more concerned about how she looks, not about what is actually right for her kids.
Thank you so much for reading and commenting!! Exactly! it should always be camaraderie. Always. When you strip it away, we’re all just people, wanting so much of the same. Looking forward to following along with you! ☺️
Loved the opening image of showing up with a fruit basket to a burnt building. That metaphor nailed it. The performance rating system we build from comparison is so spot-on, I've watched moms use screen time limits as some kind of moral scoreboard when half of them are just tring to survive the day. The real shift happens when we stop weaponizing diferent choices and start seeing them as just different.
Thank you SO much for reading & commenting! ☺️ I’m so happy it all resonated - pretty proud of my fruit basket analogy, so I’m glad you enjoyed it😆. YES, like, is this really how we’re benchmarking our quality of parenting these days? Your last line 🔥🔥. That’s exactly it & the point I’m trying to make. Nobody’s right. Nobody’s wrong. We’re all just on this big swirling, hurling planet trying to figure it out the best we can.
“I scream, you scream, we all scream for screen time!” Hahaha. Loved this! Special shout out to the keyboard warrior parents that shame others for permitting screen time, while their kids are at daycare/school 7 AM to 4 PM and in bed by 8 PM.
Thanks for reading, Z!! Hahaha glad you liked that part 😆🍦. Yes! Like why? People have become way too “brave,” or maybe “ignorant” is the better word, behind their keyboards & would never say half of this to each others faces! We can all just drop the charade - we’re all parenting. It’s hard. We’re doing our best! Now, scram!
